I love old photos and I get really excited when I can go to my Grandmother's house and scan the pictures she's found. I love the idea of not letting those ancestors or relatives be forgotten. This is why it makes me very sad that these lovely ladies are nameless. My paternal Aunt shared them with me and asked if I could try to find out who they are. The older photo is a Tintype. It's possible that the tintype is a post-mortem portrait. I'm not sure, but there is something off about the way the lady sitting down is posed. My Great Grandfather's mother (Frances Simms) died when she was 35, could this be a photo of her?
These photos were in my Grandfather's photo collection when he passed away. Nothing was written on them. We THINK they may be connected to his parents who were from Newfoundland. His father was Wentworth Barnes b.1887 in Little Bay, Newfoundland [son of Duncan Barnes b.1863 in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland d.1935 in Toronto, ON & Frances Simms b.1867 St. Anthony, Newfoundland d.1902 Boot Harbour, Newfoundland] and his mother was Bessie Louise Howell b.1897 in Newtown, Newfoundland d.1986 Toronto, ON [Daughter of Isaiah Howell b.1862 Newtown, Newfoundland d.1936 in Glovertown, Newfoundland & Cecilia Jane Andrews b.1864 Cape Island, Newfoundland d.1903 Newtown, Newfoundland].
